![]() The 850 is very crisp to my ears and seems to do well with a variety of genres. What is Timbre? I would say the 668B does better with genres in the vein of Jazz and Classical, while the 850 does better with more modern stuff. The 668B is more natural with a better Timbre. The mid-bass of the 668B is warmer, and the treble is a bit different. Also, the 850s are drier and more analytical/edgy than the 668B. The 850s are a bit louder overall than the 668B. They remind me a lot of the K240’s, although I think they are a bit heavier and seem more durable actually! That was the first thing that struck me upon opening the SR850’s. Both have that AKG K240 studio look-alike thing going on.Both have the same frequency response of 10Hz – 30kHz.Both ear pads are replaceable, and both ear-cups have a rounded shape rather than an oval. Both are over-ear (Circumaural), and semi open back. ![]() They both have a very spacious soundstage, especially for lower-end headphones. ![]()
